About the Editor
Dr. Barry J. Sessle is a professor at the University of Toronto Faculties of Dentistry and Medicine and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He has served as president of IASP, the Canadian Pain Society (CPS), the Canadian Association for Dental Research, and the International Association for Dental Research. In addition, he was a Canada Research Chair (2001–14) and has received numerous honors, including the Distinguished Career Award and Outstanding Mentorship Award of CPS. He is an Honorary Member of IASP, the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and the Academy of Dentistry and has received honorary doctorates from McGill University and Aalborg University. Dr. Sessle has published 11 books, more than 400 journal articles and book chapters, and delivered 450 invited lectures around the world. His research into orofacial pain and neuromuscular function and dysfunction has been continuously supported for more than four decades by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
